At wch time was presented to the Councell Board by Mr
Robert Doyne of Charles County an Inquisition taken upon a
tract of Land called Rotterdam in the said County purchased
and holden of his Lspp by the said Doyne. The said Doyne
represents to his Lspp and Councill that John Cane one of the
Jurors to the said Inquest, though he had first consented to
the rest of the Jurors as to their Verdict, yett afterwards (when
the same came to be signed and sealed) out of a vaine Self
willed humor obstinately refused to signe and seale the same,
soe that it was returned onely undr the hands and Seales of
Eleaven of the said Jurors
Whereupon
Ordered that a writt of Melius Inquirendu: issue forth of
the Secrys Office for a new Jury to goe upon the Same, and
the following ordr Directed to the Secry for that purpose viz.
Whereas Mandamus lately issued forth of yr Office to the
Sheriff of Charles County to make inquisition by a Jury of
the Neighbourhood unto the true bounds of a tract of Land
called Rotterdam held of his Lspp: by Mr Robert Doyne in the
said County, Which said Inquisition was accordingly taken
and returne thereof made undr the hands and Seales of the
said Sheriff and Eleaven of the Jurors John Cane onely one of
the Jurors Dissenting and out of a vaine humor obstinately
refuseing to Signe and Seale the same, notwithstanding he
had at first consented to the verdict of the said Jury.
Ordered therefore that a writt of Melius Inquirendu to the
sd Sheriff issue forth of yr office for a new Jury to goe upon
the same. Signed p ordr
