hereby Depute authorise and Empower Robert Ridgely to be
Clerke of the said Cort and to be Register of the Court of
Chancery during my pleasure, and the said office to Execute
in as full and ample manner as any other Clerke of the said
Cort heretofore used & Exercised the same, and to aske
Receive and take all fees dues Vayles Reguards belonging
and appertening to the said office to the said Ridgely's owne
use without being accountable for the same to any pson from
the Tenth day of September last untill and During such
time as he shall Execute the same and for his so doeing this
shalbe his sufficient warrant Given undr my hand and Seale
at armes this 25th day of Aprill in the 41th yeare of the
Dominion of Cecilius &c. Annoq Domini 1673.

Cecilius &c. To our Dearly beloved Brother Phillip Calvert
Esqr our Chancellr of or said Province of Maryland. Greeting.
Whereas for the due Administracon of Justice it is most
necessary that there be a succession from the Dead to the
Liveing. And that the wills of all persons dyeing who in
their life time doe make wills may be duely prooved, and
Letters of Administration of all psons dyeing without wills
may be graunted to such psons who have the best Right to
succeed therunto, that there may (in that case) be noe failer
of Justice but that it may be duly Administred to all People
within the said Province of Maryland. Know Therefore that
wee Trusting in the abillity Care & integrity of you our said
Brother have Constituted and Ordeyned, and by this our
Comission doe Constitute and Appoint you our said Brother
to be our Judge or Comissary Generall for Probate of wills
and Graunting of Administracons within the whole Province
of Maryland afforesd and the Islands thereunto belonging.
And for all manner of causes Relateing to the probate of wills
& Graunting of Administracons of the goods & Chattells
of all persons already deceased or hereafter deceasing as to
any Goods or Chattells which they have or shall have within
the said Province of Maryland and in all the Incidencyes and
Emergencyes thereunto belonging or thereupon Arriseing, and
in all matters Concerneing the Exhibiting of the Inventoryes
or Accompts upon the makeing probate of any such will or
wills or Graunting of any Letters of Administracon, and of all
and eury the Rights and Appurtenences thereunto belonging,
at the suite or instance of any pson or psons haveing or pre-
tending to have Interest, and To Proceed & Determyne, sen-
tence, decree and Adjudge the same & every of them, and to
