Philemon Lloyd One of his Lspps Comissrs for Talbott County
and testifie upon Oath the Coppy of the Certificate of the
above mentioned Land out of his Booke wch soe testified the
said Capt Lloyd is to transmitt to his Lspps Justices of the
Provll Court undr his hand with all expedition possible.

Then mooved to his Lspps and the Councell p the Honble
Philip Calvert Esqr Chancellor to take into Examination an
aspersion cast upon Mr Christopher Rousby by John Burdett
of St Maries County tending also to the Dishonor of his Lspp
According to the Evidence given in by John Llewellin being
as foll: viz
That about the 19th or 20th Day of ffebruary last to the best
of his Remembrance Mr John Burdett being then at the
Governors house did in the Kitchin of the sd house (being
severall of the Servtts then present) whisper in the Ear of the
said Llewellin some private News (as he said) which he heard
Desireing the said Llewellin not to Divulge it for that onely
himself and the pson that told him knew any thing of it.
Which was that his Lspp the Lord Propry and Mr Christopher

Rousby had lately had some high words, that Mr Rousby
called his Lspp Traytor to his face, and his Lspp Offering to
speake again Mr Rousby told him he had best hold his
tongue & say noe more or words to that effect, that the next
Day or soone after his Lspps Negro Boy Peter was sent away
in all haste to St Maries who was seene to ride very hard being
sent as was supposed for his Honor the Chancellor that the
Chancellor was seene to goe back with the said negro and had
been at Mattapony almost every Day since, that he the sd
Burdett had recd: this Intelligence from One Mr Person live-
ing in the house with Mr Rousby.
Whereupon Ordered that John Burdett be summoned to
make his appeareance at the Councell Board to morrow after-
noone at 3 a Clock where the said Person is also to appeare.

At a Councell held at Ditto place the 7th Day of March
1678:
Where were present as yesterday together with Ltt Coll:
Thomas Tailler
John Burdett According to summons yesterday makes his
appeareance and being examined Ownes the words by him
spoken to John Llewellin According to the Information of the
said Llewellin but Denies the Author to be Mr Person, but
that he had it from One Thomas Smith, that Mr Person never
spake One word of it, Whereupon Ordered that the said
