The humble Peticon of Robert Leshley Humbly Sheweth
That yo^r Peticoners wife being a woman of an Implacable
turbulent Spiritt has at severall times unjustly & wrongfully
made Divers complaints and Accusations against yo^r Pet^r
before severall of his Lo^pps Justices of the peace of Calvert
County but finding they tooke not the effect she hoped for,
and that her Designe of procureing a considersable part of yo^r
Pet^rs Estate to be allowed her for a maintenance with which
she might live at her pleasure where she listed and quite
Desert the ffamily and concerns of yo^r Pet^r was wholly frus-
trated, she hath since very falsly injuriously & malitiously
accused yo^r Pet^r of Buggery to the greate scandall & irre-
parable prejudice of yo^r Pet^rs creditt and reputation w^ch he
Does & alwaies shall Esteeme of greater price & value then
his Life.
Wherefore yo^r Peticoner humbly prayeth, that yo^r Hono^r
will be gratiously pleased to grant him a Warrant, that she
may be brought before yo^r Hono^r and her complaints & accu-
sations against yo^r Pet^r heard and Examined before yo^r Hono^r
whereby your yo^r Pet^r may purge and cleanse himself of that
grevious scandall cast upon him and that for the future he
may live more peaceably & comfortably either with his said
Wife or by allowing her such a maintenance as yo^r Hono^r
shall ord^r and Command
And as in Duty bound he shall ever pray &c^a

The Governo^rs warrant thereupon was Endorsed on the
back side of the Peticon and is as foll. viz.

The matter alleadged by the Pet^r being of more then Ordi-
nary concern, I recommend the same to the Examination of
my self and his Lo^pps: Councell, and Doe hereby will &
require you James Rumsey that you apprehend Elizabeth
Leshley the Pet^rs wife and have her Body before my self and
