174 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1676-1678.
Lib. R. R 5. That every Indian that killeth or stealeth an hog or
Calfe or other beast or any other goods shall undergoe the
same punishment that an English man doth for the same
offence.
6thly In case any Servant or Slaves run away from their
master or Children from their Parents & come to any of the
Indian townes within the Territories of Vnnacokasimmon and
his subjects they be bound to apprehend the said ffugitives &
bring them to the next English plantation to be convaied to
their Masters & in case any Indian aforesaid shall Convaie or
assist any such fugitives in their flight out of this Province
that he shall make their Respective, master or mistrisse of
such servant or slave such satisfaction as an English man
ought to doe in the like Case.
p. 15. 7ly That the said Emperor shall not make any new peace
with our Enemyes nor shall make any War without the Con-
sent of the Right Honrble the Lord Propry for the time being.
8thly In case the said Vnnacokasimmon or any Indian Sub-
ject to him shall kill Ababco or any of his Indians or any other
in peace and amity with the said Lord Propry shalbe Esteemed
as great an offence as killing an English man.
9thly That in case any Indian or Indians of any other nation
or nations that shall come within his Dominion or Territory
& shall by him or other Indians under him be intertained and
that any of them the said Indians shall kill any English or kill
or destroy any hoggs Cattle or horses or shall break up any
English mans house & steale his or their goods that he the
said Vnnacokasimmon shall be responsible for the same & in
case hereafter he shall have knowledge of any other murder-
ers tht killed David Williams & his family that he shall be
hereby engaged to deliver them up to Mr Thomas Walker or
any next magistrate to be by them Convaied to the Governor
as soon as found
10thly That Vnnacokasimmon shall pay yearely to the vse of
the Lord Propry four Indian arrows every yeare on the 20th
day of October to Mr Charles Hutchins as an acknowledgemt
to his Lordship and as a token of the Continuance of the
Peace. the marke of
