Seale of our said Province you shall have occasion for or sue
out in your own proper cause or causes suit or suites Pro-
vided all wayes that all such writts of scire facias Subpenas or
other proces whatsoever which you the said Philip Calvert
shall seale with the great Seale of our said Province of Mary-
land in your own proper cause or suite out of our high Court
of Chancery of our said Province of Maryland as aforesaid,
you cause to be entred on Record in the Secry's Office of our
said Province before the Execucon or serveing the said writts
scire facias Subpenas or other proces aforemenconed And our
Secry of our said Province for the tyme being is hereby willed
& required to cause all such writts as aforesaid to be Recorded
in our said Secrys Office And the Secry or his chiefe Clerke
to write entred on the backside of the writt, & Subscribe his
or their name underneath Wittnes our trusty & welbeloved
Thomas Notley Esqr our Lievt over our said Province of
Maryland Given under our lesser Seale att Armes the
fifteenth day of ffebruary in the third yeare of our dominion
Anno 1677

Maryland ss.
Whereas I am given to understand by a letter received
from Capt Thomas Walker high Sheriffe of Somrsett County,
as also by the deposicon of Wm Keene of the same County
that there is lately a barberous murder coffiitted by some
Indians att the house of David Williams of the said County
upon himselfe & his whole ffamily These are therefore to will
& require as also strictly to charge & comand you Col Wm
Coleborne Comandr in chiefe of all his Lordpps foote militia in
the County of Somrsett aforesaid, upon sight hereof (if occa-
sion shall require to sumon all the forces of the said County
under your comand to be in readines well & compleatly fixed
for the defence & safeguard of your County att an houres
warning upon paine of death And if you shall see just reason
& occasion requires more men & amunition for the defence
& safeguard of yor County then yor County of itt selfe can
procure Signifie the same to me together with what quantity
of men Armes & Amunition more the defence & safeguard of
your County shall require with all expedition, & itt shall upon
first notice given by you be provided & sent to you for your

Capt Thomas Walker of your County to whom you are upon
such urgent occasions to addres your selfe & to whom I have
wrote to afford you all aid & assistance as to their advice
