A Proclamacon
Whereas by the meanes care & endeavour of the Honble
Col Henry Coursey by me in behalfe of the right Honble
Charles Lord & Propry of this Province thereunto authorized
appointed & comissionated under the great Seale of this Prov-
ince, there is a peace lately had made & concluded on att
ffort Albany within his royall Highnesses Territoryes of New

Yorke between his Maties Subjects of this Province under the
dominion of the right Honble Charles &c aforementioned, his
Maties Subjects of Virginia & the severall nations of Indians
hereafter nominated (to say) the Sinnondowannes, Onjonges,
Onondages, Oneydes Maques & Mattawax or Delaware
Indians To the end therefore that the same may be effectuall
firm solemn & of long continuance, & that all his Maties loving
Subjects both of this Province & of the Colony of Virginia
may reap the good & benifitt thereof I doe hereby (by & with
the advice & consent of his Lordps Councell) will & require as
also strictly charge & comand all & singuler his Lordps
Officers civill & military within this Province & others the
good people of the same to take due Cognizance of such
peace made & concluded on as aforesaid That from hence
forward they offer no violence or injury or use any act of hos-
tility agt the said Nations of Indians or any of them, but that
att all tymes & upon all occasions they maintaine & keep a
friendly & neighbourly correspondency with all & every the
said nations of Indians & treat them civily & courteously as
friends & Neighbours giveing them no just occasion of offence
whereby a breach may ensue Given att St Maryes under the
great Seale of this Province the fifth day of Octobr in the
second yeare of the dominion of his said Lordpp Charles &c
over this Province Annoq Domi. 1677.
