next Provinciall Court after the fact comitted And I doe also
hereby (by & with the advice & consent aforesaid) strictly
prohibitt & forbid all housekeepers masters of ffamilyes dames
Overseers & others in any wise to entertaine or suffer any
such meetings or unlawfull Assemblyes as aforesaid att their
houses on the Sabbath day or any other dayes in the week of
which the Justices Sheriffes Constables & other publick Min-
isters of each respective County are also to take due Cogni-
zance as aforesaid, & to take care that all & singuler the
Offenders herein be bound to the good behaviour giveing
good security for the same & for their appearance att the
next Provinciall Court after such offence committed Given
att the Citty of St Maryes under the great Seale of this Prov-
ince this second day of Octobr in the second yeare of the
dominion of the right Honble Charles &c over this Province
Annoq Dom. 1677.

A Proclamacon

Whereas severall Complaints to me have been made by
severall his Lordps good people Inhabitants of this Province of
the grand & notorious abuses they have & doe daily receive
in their stocks of hoggs horses & Cattle by rangers hunting
in the woods without Lycence & driving away their stocks

into places remote from their owne usuall & accustomed
rang to their great losse and damages, for prvencon of which
great absurdityes for the future I doe hereby by & with the
advice & consent of his Lordps Councell strictly prohibitt &
forbid all & all manner of persons whatsoever to range or
hunt for wilde Cattle, horses, hoggs, in his Lordsps forrest or
elsewhere within the Province, except itt be upon his or their
own proper land without a lycence first had & obtained from
my selfe or other person or persons lawfully authorized &
impowered to grant the same, he or they obtaining such
Lycence giveing good & sufficient security that he or they
shall not any wayes injure or offer any violence to or in any
wise damnifie any of his Lordps good people the Inhabits of
this Province in their stocks of horses Cattle or hoggs, & that
he or they haveing obtained such lycence shall not by vertue
thereof prsume to hunt in any neck or else whereof upon any
mans land without leave or lyberty so to doe first had &
obtained from the person or persons liveing upon the same or
to whom the said land of right belongeth And I doe hereby
by & with the advice & consent aforesaid further strictly
charge & comand all & singuler his Lordps Justices of the
peace within this Province & other publick ministers of the
