in Chiefe hath already recd from the Honble Thomas Notley
Esqr Governor Obleigeing the Emperor once a yeare at a cer-
tain time in some Convenient place to pay unto the Rtt Honble
the Lord Propry or his Governor four Indian Arrowes as an
Acknowledgmt of their Subjection to him, and Receiveing
ptection from him undr Our Soveraigne Lord Charles the
second by the grace of God King of England, Scotland,
ffrance and Ireland Defendr of the ffaith &c:

[Prorogation of Assembly.]
Charles &c To all the Inhabitants of our said Province of
Maryland greeting Whereas we did the second day of March
One thousand six hundred seventy five cause to be published
declared & proclaimed that we did intend to hold an Assembly
of the ffreemen of our said Province upon the fifteenth day of
May then next following, Which said Assembly upon the
fifteenth day of June now last past wee did Prorogue untill
the fifteenth day of May next ensueing the date hereof And
for that the said fifteenth day of May & now nigh att hand &
for severall other weighty & urgent occasions us thereunto

moveing wee have thought fitt & doe hereby declare & pub-
lish that the same Genll Assembly shall be & is hereby pro-
rogued from the said fifteenth day of May next untill the
second tuesday in May Anno One thousand six hundred sev-
enty eight whereof as well our members of our Upper house
of Assembly as also all the Deputyes & Delegates of our
lower house of Assembly & all other the Inhabitants of our
said Province of Maryland whom itt may concerne are to take
notice & to order their affaires accordingly And we doe
hereby order & comand our respective Sheriffes of our severall
Countyes that they upon sight of this our Proclamacon imedi-
atly publish and proclaime the same, & give the respective
Deputyes & Delegates of their severall Countyes particular
notice of our will & pleasure herein Wittnes our selfe att
our Citty of St Maryes the seventeenth day of April in the
second yeare of our Dominion &c Annoq Domi. 1677
