Our said Cheife justice and Our said justices or any fowre or
more of them (of which Our said trusty and welbeloved Coun-
cellour Jesse Wharton Esqr and Our said Unckle and Secre-
tary or one of them to be One) shall be a Sufficient Court for
the determineing the pleas and matters of Equity aforesaid
Wee doe hereby require and comand you and every of you in
and upon the ffaith and ffidelity which you Owe and in which
you stand bound and holden unto us firmly enjoyning that in
all things touching the Office and Offices of justice and jus-
tices aforesaid and to the conservation of us, Our peace, and
the peace of Our said province you be fully and wholly Obe-
dient and assisting unto Our said Cheife justice and justices
respectively Wittnesse Our Selfe at Mattapenny the seven-
tenth day of June in the first yeare of Our Dominion over
Our said province of Maryland and in the yeare of Our Lord
God One thousand six hundred Seventy Six

Ch: Baltemore.
Instructions Orders and Authorities to be observed and
executed by Our Deputy Leivtenant Collonel Jesse Wharton
dureing Our absence Out of Our Province of Maryland.
Charles Absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of
Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To Our

Lib. R. R.
Trusty and well beloved Jesse Wharton Esqr Our Deputy
Leivtenant of Our said Province and of Our Dominions there-
unto belonging Greeting Wee doe hereby will require appoint
and authorize you to Observe performe and execute the
instructions directions and Authorities hereafter mentioned
in such manner and forme as the same are hereby Ordered
and directed to be Observed performed and executed, that is
to say
ffirst that in case you shall happen to find your Selfe sicke
or in danger at any time of death, you take care by your last
will or other Instrument to appoint Our trusty and welbeloved
ffreind Thomas Notley Gentleman to Succeed you in the
Office and Offices of Government of and in Our said Province
untill Wee shall appoint and authorize some other person to
exercise and execute the said Offices And Wee doe hereby
allow off, authorize and appoint the said Thomas Notley
whom you shall so appoint as aforesaid to exercise and
execute all and every the said Office and Offices powers and
authorities whatsoever after your death untill Wee shall nomi-
nate and appoint some other person or persons to exercise
and execute the same.
