110 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1676-1678.
Lib. R. R. be agreeable to and with the Lawes Statuts and customes of
the Kingdome of England Wittnesse Our Selfe at Malta-
penny the sevententh day of June in the first yeare of Our
Dominion over Our said province of Maryland and in the
yeare of Our Lord God One thousand six hundred seventy six.

[Commission to Justices.]
Ch. Baltemore
Charles Absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of
Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To all
and singular Our Sheriffs and Cheife Officers and all others
of Our province of Maryland aforesaid Greeting Whereas
aswell for Our Owne conservation as for the conservation of
the peace and tranquility of Our said province and to the end
that justice and Equity may be duly & impartially administred
to all and every person and persons bodies politique and cor-
porate of and within Our province of Maryland aforesaid Wee
have constituted assigned and appointed and doe hereby con-
stitute assigne and appoint Our trusty and well beloved

Deputy Governour of Our said Province of Maryland under
Our most deare Sonn Cecilius Calvert Esqr Our Leivtenant
Generall and Cheife Governour of Our said province of Mary-
land and of all Our Dominions and Territories thereto belong-
ing to be Our Cheife justice of Our provinciall Court of Our
said Province of Maryland dureing Our pleasure aswell for
the holding of all pleas touching and relateing unto the con-
servation of us and the conservation of the peace of Our said
province as for the holding of pleas touching Our Rights and
Revenues and of Comon pleas And likewise for the deter-
mineing of all matters of Equity for which any releife is shall
or may be justly or reasonably desired in Our said Court
And whereas Wee have likewise constituted assigned and
appointed and doe by these presents constitute assigne and
appoint Our deare Unckle and Councellour Philip Calvert
Esqr Our Chancellour of Our said province Our deare Couzin
William Calvert Esqr Our Councellor and principall Secretary
of Our said province Our deare Couzin Baker Brooke Esqr
Our Councellour and Surveyour Generall of Our said province
Our trusty and welbeloved Henry Coursey Esqr Our trusty
and welbeloved Councellour Samuel Chew Esqr Our trusty
and welbeloved Councellour Thomas Taillour Esqr Our trusty
and welbeloved Councellours to be justices of Our said Court
for the holding the pleas aforesaid and for determining of
matters of Equity aforesaid dureing Our pleasure Willing and
by these prsents assigning constituteing and appointing that
