112 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1676-1678.
Lib. R. R. Item Wee doe hereby give you full power and authority
for us and in Our name in case of the death of any Officer or
Officers of Our said province or of any Our privy Councellor
or privy Councellours to appoint some other fitting person or
persons to execute the Office or trust of such person or per-
sons so dyeing as aforesaid, untill Our Will shall be declared
to the contrary. And Wee doe hereby authorize such person
and persons so by you to be appointed to execute and exer-
cise such Office and Offices according to such your appoint-
ment Given under Our hand and great Seale of Our prov-
ince this sixtenth day of June in the first yeare of Our
Dominion over Our said province Anno Domini 1676.

To all persons to whom these presents shall Come I Jesse
Wharton Esqr Deputy Leivtenant of the province of Mary-
land under the Honble Cecilius Calvert Esqr Sonn and heire
apparent of the Right Honble Charles Lord Baltemore Lord
and Proprietary of the said province and his Lopps Leivtenant
Generall and Cheife Governour of the said Province send
Greeting in Our Lord God everlasting Whereas the Right
Honble Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary of the provinces
of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c by his
Comission and publique Instrument under his hand and under
the great Seale of the said Province of Maryland beareing
date the sixtenth day of June in the first yeare of his said Lopps
Dominion over the said Province Annoq Dom. 1676 now last
past (his Lopps then prsent affairs requireing his leaveing the
said Province for some months and that dureing his absence
Out of the said province he had thought fitt and requisitt the.

p. 88 Cheife Comand should be in his deare Sonn Cecil Calvert
Esqr)he the said Charles Lord Baltemore Lord Proprietary
as aforesaid did by these prsents give and grant unto his said
deare Sonn Cecilius the Office of Leivtenant Generall Cheife
Captaine Cheife Governour & Comandr and cheife Admirall
both by Sea and Land of the said province of Maryland and
of the Islands Territoryes and Dominions whatsoever to the
same belonging and of all and singular his Lopps Castles fforts
ffortresses ffortifications munitions Shipps and Navyes in the
said province Islands Territories & Dominions aforesaid and
him the said Cecil Calvert Esqr his Lopp did Ordaine and con-
stitute Leivtenant Generall Cheife Captaine and Cheife
Admirall both by Sea and Land Cheife Governour and
Comander of the said province Islands Territories and
Dominions and of all the Castles fforts Navyes Shipps places
and things aforesaid by those presents To have hold Occuppy
