108 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1676-1678.
Lib. R. R. and authority to direct and appoint for us and in Our name to
passe under the great Seale of Our said Province such Grant
and Grants of such proportion and proportions of land within
Our said province to such person or persons and for such

estate and estates and with such priviledges and immunityes

and under such Conditions as were formerly by Our deceased
ffather directed or which wee shall from time to time hereafter
direct by any warrant or warrants under Our hand & Seale at
Armes, So as the said warrant and warrants be duly entred

p. 84 and registred and the said Lands duly Surveyed, and the
Surveys thereof returned and all and every the necessary
rules Orders circumstances heretofore by Our deceased ffather
given or appointed in relation to the Surveying of such
Lands and to the entring registring and attesting the Surveys
thereof and all necessary circumstances touching such Grants
Surveys and warrants heretofore by Our deceased ffather
given or appointed be first duly observed and performed.
Willing and hereby requireing that all the abovementioned
powers and authorityes by these presents given and granted
to Our said Deare Sonn be from time to time (as Occasion
shall require) exercised performed and executed for Our said
deare Sonn (by reason of his tender yeares) by Our trusty
and welbeloved Jesse Wharton Esqr One of Our Councell,
whom by these prsents wee constitute authorize and appoint
Our Deputy Leivtenant and Deputy Governour under Our
said deare Sonn dureing Our absence Out of Our said Prov-
ince or untill Wee or Our heirs shall Signifie Our or their
pleasures to the Contrary. Hereby giveing and granting
unto the said Jesse Wharton the Custody Goverment and
Comand of Our said province as Our Deputy Leivtenant and
Deputy Governour under Our said deare Sonn dureing Our
said absence And also by these presents impowering the said
Jesse Wharton as Our Deputy under Our said deare Sonn to
exercise and execute all the severall powers & authorityes
abovementioned, Willing and by these presents requireing the
said Jesse Wharton to advise as there shall be Occasion with
those who already are or hereafter shall be of Our Councell
here for the time being upon all emergent Occasions touching
concerning or relateing unto the good Goverment of Our said
province and people here. Given at Mattapenny under Our
hand and great Seale of Our said province the sixtenth day of
June in the first yeare of Our Dominion over Our said prov-
ince and in the yeare of Our Lord God One thousand six
hundred Seventy six.
