Monday, December 30. 1776.

Council met. Present as on Saturday.
Copy of Letter No 75 was sent to Benjamin Harrison Esqr
of Congress.
Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to John
Crockett, by Draught of Abraham Van Bibber, two hundred
and ninety Eight Pounds, fourteen Shillings and eight Pence
half penny.
That the said Treasurer pay to the said John Crockett for
the use of Thomas Dalling four hundred Dollars.
That the said Treasurer pay to the said John Crockett for
the use of Jesse Hollingsworth two thousand pounds.
That the said Treasurer pay to William Niven & Co. One
hundred and thirty Pounds six Shillings and Eleven Pence.
Ordered That Mr Jesse Hollingsworth deliver to Stephen
Steward fifty Bushels of Salt.
Col. John Weems and Stephen Steward junior having
appeared before this Board and acknowledged that they had
been active in making and delivering the Cards mentioned in
the former Order of the Council of Safety, and having prom-
ised that they would not intermeddle in the same manner
again, but would leave all Persons to be dealt with according
to the Law of the Land, and the Resolves of Congress and
Convention, Ordered thereupon that they be dismissed from
any further Attendance upon paying the messenger his Fees
for serving the abovementioned Order, and Return thereof.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.

Benjamin Harrison Esqr (of Congress.)
Sir,
Considering the State of Maryland to be embarked in the
same cause with the Honble Congress, we readily and chear-
fully agree that you should have the small armed Schooner
now in your Port, which, we hope, will answer the purpose
intended, nothing more will be asked for her in Point of Price,
but what she cost the State, we expect not to gain, nor would
you wish we are persuaded that the state of Maryland should
loose any thing by the vessel, we let you have her in the
public cause to oblige congress, be pleased to notify this to
the commander, and direct him to return a schedule, or mem:
of Guns, and other Effects on board, the price we will send
hereafter.
Blankets we have none, but we will furnish Mr Griffin with
Cotton to make them, which may be easily done, 'tis the shift
