Saturday November 30, 1776.

Council met. Present as on yesterday.
Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Capt.
Frederick Teams two hundred and seventy three pounds six
Shillings and seven Pence.
Ordered that the said Treasurer pay to Captain Ezekiel
Towson fifty Pounds fifteen Shillings.
Mr John Bullen and Mr Gabriel Duvall, agreeable to an
Order of yesterday, report to the Council, that upon Examina-
tion of the Pikes delivered into the Magazine by William
Niven, they find that fifty of them are pretty good thirty five
want hardening at the Point, and two hundred and fifty one are
good for nothing: that of the number last mentioned, they are
of Opinion that many are incapable of being made good being
not sufficiently substantial for the Purpose for which they were
intended: Thereupon Ordered that the Clerk write to the said
William Niven and acquaint him to attend at the Magazine
and receive the Pikes which by the above Report are unfit for
Service.
Ordered That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Capt,
Ezekiel Towson 12 Musquets fitted with Bayonets, 12 Car-
touch Boxes and twenty Pounds of Lead.
Adjourned till Monday morning, 10 o'Clock.

November 30th 1776.
Gentillmen.
I have inclosed you Mr Graham's letter you will se by it I
desier'd him to inquier of Mr forbes how much Beef and Pork
he could purches and at what price I only got Mr Graham's
letter yesterday I culd not answer it before you had sen it
now I shall be oblige to you to wright me wheather I shall
ingage Mr forbes to purches a quantity for the Provence I
would have waited on you but am very unwell with the Rume-
tism. If it is agreebell to you I will send some salt and git
somebody to take care of the Beef. I meen to pay Mr Forbes
5 prct for the trubell of buying and paying for the Beef and
Poark. I hope the guns are deliver'd the Captain of the Prov-
ence Brigs did not chuse to deliver the small guns from the
brigs till they were sould. the Junepher lys redy riged, and no
captain nor sailers ites a pity your fine vesels should be lying
by the walls I wish the Provence would sell the schooner to
me I would give £1500 for her If you want to se me for
any thing pleas to wright me and I will come up I shall be
much oblige to you if you will git one of your clerkes to buy
