No. 245.

[Council to J. Hollingsworth.]
Sir.
We shall be obliged to you to procure Captain and hands
for the Schooner you mention, and let us know when the
Resolution will be ready to sail, and what quantity of Super-
fine flour you have engaged or likely to get.
Captain Martin's Brig must be cleaned and fitted so as to
take in her Cargo with all expedition. If superfine flour is not
to be had for her in Baltimore she will be loaded elsewhere.
Be pleased to inform us of the Price of Flour from time to time.
Mr. Jesse Hollingsworth

P. S. Mr Clark has offered us a vessel which he says will
carry 700 Bbls. pray examine her and let us know what sum
of money it will take to fit her out, and the value of her as she
now stands
Novr 5th 1776
Mr Jesse Hollingsworth

No. 246.

[Council to Clarke.]
Sir.
Your letters of 25th & 31st ulto are received but hurry of
business prevented our answering of them sooner. We can say
nothing as to the purchase of your vessel till we have seen an
Inventory of the Sails Rigging and Tackle. You will apply
to Mr Hollingsworth, to whom we have wrote on the subject,
to view her. As to the Commission business we are not at
liberty to throw into your hands. Many purchasers would
hurt the Service as they would raise upon one another, and
we should loose more by the advanced price than we should
gain by the lowness of the proposed Commission.
Novr 5th 1776
Mr James Clarke
