[Hebb and Bowes to Council.]

Leonard Town November 4th 1776.
Gentlemen.
Agreeable to the requisition of your Honble Board, we
examined into the state and condition of the vessels drifted
on shore, or made Captures of from Lord Dunmore's Fleet,
and are of opinion that of the following vessels lying at
Kitts Point (To wit) —
1 very large Pilot Boat
1 Schooner of about 1400 Bushs Burthen
1 Sloop of about 2000 Bushs (do wth some Rigging.
The Sloop only in a condition to be removed, and in order
to do that, it will be necessary to send hands down with an
anchor and cable, no hands to be hired here.
At Cherry Fields
1 Sloop about 1400 Bushs Burthen
1 Schooner of about 1 200 Bushs Do much repairs necessary
before either can be removed.
If Gentl" it should be the opinion of your Board to havt
the vessells which in our Judgment cannot be removed
without repairing, which we should not have relied on coulc
we have procured any skilful Person to have examined them
disposed of, we should be glad to receive your instruction:
relative thereto as soon as convenient.

Tuesday November 5th 1776

Council met. Present as on yesterday.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Captn Peter
Adams forty Pounds, to be accounted for.
Ordered That Captain Thomas Walker deliver to Mr Jen-
kins and Mr Milne all their Cloaths, and wearing apparel
taking care to detain all such goods, for which Bills of Lading
have been Signed, 'till the further order of the Council of
Safety, or Court of Admiralty of this State.
Alexander Furnival appointed Captain of a Company of
Matrosses to be stationed at Baltimore Town.
Jas Lillycrap's Terms for gardening accepted, and Council
of Safety agree to give the annual Rent of five Pounds to
Major Jenifer for a Lot for gardening.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Captn Alex
ander Furnival two hundred Pounds for the recruiting service
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Charles Wallace Esq
Paymaster one thousand Pounds.
