[Council to Van Bibber and Harrison.]

Your favors of the 17^th ult. we just now received and are glad
to hear of the Arrival of Martin and Beck. We have not
received any letter from you, advising us of the arrival of
Handy, who is returned without bringing a scrip of a Pen from
Eustatia. Larguire is not yet arrived that we hear of. We
refer you to our letter of the 12^th September a copy of which
you have inclosed, and which we confirm. You have also a
copy of a resolution of Convention and wish that you may
have it in y^r power to execute the Commission to the extent of
twenty five thousand pounds in continental or Provincial Cur-
rency, by drawing Bills upon the Council of Safety, or State
for the time being of this Province, or upon Mess^rs Willing &
Morriss & Comp^y of Philadelphia. We wish you had in your
last quoted the Price Currt. of Tob^o Flour and Corn that we
might have been enabled to ship such commodities as would
have answered best. We are now shiping on board different
vessels to your Address Tob^o Flour and Bread to strengthen
your hands, and draw upon the Council, or upon Messrs.
Willing & Morriss as often as you can, to the aforesaid Amt.

[Haley's Petition.]

The Humble Petition of Caleb Hayley belonging to the
Prince Georges Battallion of Militia, most Humbly,
Sheweth that your Petitioner came to Annapolis Voluntarily
with a Party of Men belonging to the said Battalion where
being on Duty received a hurt by a fall which compell'd him
to go to the Hospital and was so dangerously Ill for the space
of six Weeks that his Life was Despair'd of, and has render'd
him entirely uncapable of Labouring, and as he has no other
Method of getting a Livelihood is now reduc'd to a most
deplorable Condition and as he has no other View of being
reliev'd from this Miserable Situation but by your. Honours
Generosity with the advice of his Officers (whose Names are
hereunto Subscribed) to apply to you.
Hoping Honourable Gentlemen that you will take his Case
into Consideration and be so well Pleas'd as to Order him
Payment for the time of Sickness which is now seven Weeks
and your Petitioner if in Case of Necessity will be always
ready to stand in Defence of the Country to his last Breath
hopes that your Honours will Comply with his Request and
Your Petitioner in Duty bound, shall ever Pray
