know how to raise a proper Account against the Continent for
the same, this may be attended with some little trouble, but
'tis absolutely necessary to be done for the benefit of the
Public. We request therefore that you will give proper direc-
tions and make the returns as soon as convenient.

Thursday, September 12th 1776.

Council met. Present the same members as on yesterday.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Elisha Wil-
liams six hundred pounds, for to raise the militia Company in
Lower District of Frederick County.
Ordered That Saml Messersmith be requested to deliver to
Captn Forrest all the guns which were left in his custody to be
repaired by Captn Hammond.
Ordered That Commissary of Stores immediately send to
Annapolis one hundred camp Kettles and all the Canteens
from the magazine, and Guns, if any, to be sent to Annapolis.
Copy of Letter No 1 76 was sent to Jesse Hollingsworth.
Permit was granted to Job Greene of the Schooner Two
Brothers to go to Martinique or any other foreign Port, he
having given Bond, and returned a manifest agreeable to the
Resolutions of Convention.
Permit was granted to Thomas Ridley of the Sloop Fanny
to go to Hispaniole or other where.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Archd Buch-
anan four hundred and fifty Pounds for Schooner Dolphin
insured by this state.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to George Wells three
hundred Pounds, on Acct of Gondolas.
Ordered That Mr Hollingsworth be requested to deliver to
Mr Stephen Steuard 2000 w' Bread and 10 Bbls. Flour.
Ordered That Commissary of Stores at Balt: Town deliver
to Henry Howard one-half Barrel of Powder to try Cannon.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Stephen
Steuard two hundred pounds for Craigh's Boat.

Jno C: Harrison Ensign of
a Company of Militia in the 19th Battalion.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Joseph Mid-
dleton one hundred and fifty Pounds for his Lookout Boats.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to John Smith Esqr for
use of the Committee of Observation for Balto County six hun-
dred Pounds on Acct of The Fortifications
