Bushells of Coal, if you can hire vessells to bring the same up
— the Freight as also the value of the Vessell if taken by the
Enemy will be paid by the State of Maryland.

[Boucher to Jenifer.]

Yaocomico 30th August 1776.
Sir. To morrow I shall quit this place and proceed down
the Bay with the Tobacco loaded Brigg, on seeing her safe
out to sea, shall return to Williamsburgh and resign my Com-
mission. Should Capt Nicholson quit the Defence, I will
accept the command, provided my pay is equal to what I have
in this province and that I shall be permitted to go to sea
with the ships. I shall be under the necessity of being at
home, at least a fortnight, after my return from Wmsburgh.
Imediately on my return will pay you a visit at Annapolis. I
am sorry I had not the pleasure of seeing Capt Nicholson, I
hope I shall in a short time I am Sir,

[Lowe and Burgess to Convention.]

To the Honourable Convention of Maryland.
Trent Town Aug 30th 1776.
Gentn We understand that there is two Batans of Regulars
to be raised in Maryland for the Continental Service and as
we are now in the Flying Camp in said service the whole of
our people as well as ourselves have a desire of standing as
Regulars in the aforesaid service. We therefore beg your
Honours to have said Company constituted Regulars or give
us an equal chance to raise a company for that purpose, which
will much oblige Your obedt Hble Servants

Horatio Clagett will thankfully accept of a Lieutenant's com-
mission and no other
N. B. I should be glad Mr Claggett could be continued in
my company J. H. L. William Duvall.

Saturday, August 31th 1776.

Council met. Present the same members as on yesterday,
except Mr Carroll.
Ordered That Eastern shore Treasurer pay to Dr John
Hindman three pounds, eleven shillings & six Pence for
attending Captn Goldsborough's Company of Flying Camp.
