ness by requesting you as soon as possible if agreeable to you
to issue out a commission and forward it by all possible dis-
patch as it will greatly tend to the satisfaction of that Com-
pany & the wellfare of the Battalion. Your compliance will
greatly oblige yours with the greatest respect :

Council met. Present as yesterday.

Ordered, That Treasurer of Western Shore pay to Dr
John Boyd fifty three Pounds, fifteen shillings Curry, for Medi-
cine purchased of him by Dr Weisenthal, for the use of the
Troops of this Province.
Ordered that said Treasurer pay to James Dick three
Pounds, nineteen Shillings and eight Pence for Iron Potts.
Ordered, That said Treasurer pay to Captn George Stricker
thirty five Pounds, nineteen Shillings, for Shoes.
Adjd till Monday 10 o'Clock.

Wye Queen Anns County May 11th 1776.

Honble Sir, Agreeable to the choice of Capt Bensons Com-
pany I was by them appointed first Lieutenant in consequence
Recd a commission in due form from you my having removed
at a considerable distance from that neighbourhood obliges
me to resign and do herewith enclose the commission and
renounce the office you were pleased to invest me with.
I am with great respect Sir your Honrs most hble Sevt
Richard Grason.

Baltimore 11th May 1776.
Sirs. Immediately on the alarm of Captn Squires being at
the head of our Bay; I ordered Capt Wise of the Nancy (who
had not got far down the River) up to our Bason, where she
now waits your further orders, & have also stop'd loading out
the Schooner Ninety two, which has got about three fourths
the Cargo on board, & the remg one in store ready to put on
board. I shall be glad to know immediately what in your
