opinion is best to be done with those Vessels & Cargoes,
whether I am to finish loading the latter, leaving her as she is,

Monday 13th May 1776.
Council met. Present as on Saturday.

Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Dr Weisenthal forty
two Pounds, nineteen shillings Curry for Medicine provided by
him for the Troops.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Dr Weisenthal forty
five Pounds, for 3 month's Pay as Surgeon of the 1st Maryland
Battalion. Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Dr Wm Dashiell
twenty two Pounds, ten shillings for 3 months pay as Surgeon's
Mate.
Copy of Letter No 149 was sent to Colo Wm Smallwood.
Ordered, That Treasurer afsd pay to Captn Edward Veazey
seven hundred Pounds on Acct of his Company.
Ordered That Treasurer afsd pay to Richd Thompson for
Use of John Yost one hundred and fifty Pounds to enable him
to carry on his Gun Manufactory.
Ordered, That Treasurer of Eastern Shore pay to James
Mills four Pounds, twelve shillings & one Penny Currency for
the Carriage of Powder from Chester Town to the Lower
Counties on Eastern Shore.
Adjd till next Day 10 o'Clock.

[Council to Smallwood.]

To Colo Wm Smallwood
Sir.
Twenty six Prisoners are expected from North Carolina to
pass through this Province to Pennsylvania, they are to be
guarded through Prince Georges County to Queen Anne by
the Militia of that County, and are expected to arrive there
some lime to Morrow or on Wednesday. We request you
would send a Detachment of Thirty of the Regular Troops
commanded by a proper Officer to receive said Prisoners at
Queene Anne and convey them to Baltimore Town, where you
will please order them to be relieved by a like Number of Reg-
ular Troops who will convey them by Water, if the Passage be
safe, otherwise by Land to the Head of Elk, and so to the
Verge of the Province, and deliver them to an Officer of the
