belonging to the Province, altho' not new. Whatever Repairs
are wanting for them we desire you will have done as soon as
possible. We would have you purchase the Muskets you
mention at 75/ each and are glad to hear you can get
Cloth to cloath your Company. We desire it may be made
up as soon as it can be done. The Price you are asked for
Houses at Oxford for Barracks is most extravagant and
much higher than from the Information we have received
ought to be given, and we would request you would endeav-
our to procure them or others at a lower Rate. Camp Kettles
are an Article that cannot be procured in this Province. We
have procured you some Potts, which we conceive, as you are
now and may for some Time remain at your Baracks, will well
answer every Purpose you have occasion for at present.
Platters we shall have ready for you next Week and will send
by first opportunity; and we have inclosed to you two Orders
on the Treasurer of the Eastern Shore one for £166, your
Subsist-Money to the third of May & £250 for the Purchase
of Cloth and the Purposes you have mentioned, and for which
you will hereafter render us Account.

Council met. Present as yesterday.

Ordered That Treasurer of Western Shore pay to Lieutt
John Halkerston for the use of the Committee of Observation
for Charles County, the sum of one hundred and fifty Pounds
Curry, to provide subsist of Captn Rezin Bealls Company of
regular Troops.
Ordered, That Treasurer afsd pay to Wm Lux two thousand
Pounds on Acct of Ship Defence.
Adjd till next day 10 o'Clock.

Cecil County May 10th 1776.
Gentlemen. Some time past we wrote to you informing
you that Captn Baruch Williams of the 30th Battalion had
resigned his Commission as Captain and in consequence
thereof we had from our personal knowledge, and agreeable
to the Company which Captain Williams was appointed to
command recommended Jeremiah Baker to be appointed in
his place, and as no commission hath hitherto issued to the
said Jeremiah Baker, we must again intrude upon your good-
