procured in the Coty On consideration find it impracticable
to be done unless we had money in hand to exchange as it

must be collected in small quantitys, and even in that case its
probable no great sum can be obtained, however my endeav-
ours shall not be wanting to procure it.

Wednesday 21 Feb. 1776.
Council met. Present as yesterday.

Ordered That the Treasurer be directed to exchange the
Bills of Credit of this Province for any Sum in Gold or Silver
Coin that may be lodged with them by the several Persons
appointed to collect the same to comply with the Resolve of
Congress.
Copies of Letter No 23 was sent to the Committees of
Observation for Worcester, Dorchester, Talbot and Calvert
Counties respectively.
Mr Tilghman has Leave of Absence.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.

[Council to Committees.]

To the Committees of Observation (where only fifty men are
stationed).
Gentn:
We perceive by the Proceedings of the Convention that one
half of Capt Rezin Beall's Company are to be stationed in your
County, we understand the Officers of that Company are
drawing their men together, and are desirous of knowing
where they are to be stationed so as to answer the Purpose
intended. We know not where proper Houses can be got in
your County and therefore request you would make Enquiry
and let us know your Sentiments, where the Men ought to
be stationed, and whether convenient Houses can be got for
them.

(And the follg. Letter was sent to the several Committees
of Observation for those Counties where whole Independent
Companies were stationed.)

Gentn Agreeable to the Resolves of the last Convention
an Independent Company is to be stationed at such Place in
your County as the Council of Safety may think proper, but
as we are not so well acquainted with your County as to deter-
