Freedome she must apply herselfe to the provinciall Court and
if any body had abused her she may have a warrant for them
and bid her goe to Mr Robert Carvile for further advice.

Then was read a letter from Coll Henry Jowles to the
honble Coll William Digges being produced by the said Coll
Digges who had even just then received the same Together
with severall affidavits of Iohn Atkey Richard Fyffe and
Henry Jowles
Then was also read another letter from Coll Jowles to the
honble the president and Deputy Governors
An answer to the same ordered to be imediately writt.

Sunday morning
Honed Sr
Wee are all over the Country in a greate uproar and Tu-
mult and know not who to apply our selves too in whome wee
can confidently repose any Trust unless it be your honr
Whome wee doe all believe to be better principled than to
betray the country to the comon Enemy These papers here
enclosed will informe you how wee are sold and betrayed to
the heathen by those whose interest it ought to have beene to
protect and defend us from them And the Enemy to whom
they have betrayed us begins to appeare already and to infort
themselves at the head of our River all which discoveries
Coming in the neck of one another hath so Alarmed us that

wee thought it high time to be doeing something for our De-
fence In order thereunto I have given order to Majr Beale to
have his Company in a readynesse and with a party of them
to goe to the Indian Fort and know their designes; Mine also
is in the same readinesse at an houres warning and so shall
the whole Regiment of our County Likewise this day I have
sent halfe a scoare horse to surprise and Apprehend Majr
Boarman whome wee intend to secure in safe Custody till
things are better settled I have likewise sent downe this morn-
ing to mattapany a boat and hands for the Country Armes and
Amunition which were taken from us, The others of our
