Inspection into & duly Examined the state & Condition of
William Morris & what the Evidences by him produced had
to say on his Behalf therein do Report that upon the whole
matter they do find the allegations & pretences of the petr
Morris to be altogether vain & Fictitious Scandalous &
Ridiculous; whereupon the petition & the matter therein
Contained is dismist the Board & the Evidences discharged
from their further attendance & the said Morris Ordered to
pay them their Legal Charges
Mr Stephen Luff Sheriff of Somerset County having by
Virtue of a praecept to him formerly directed for the appre-
hending & taking into his Custody of Edwd Randolph Esqr
accordingly apprehended the said Randolph & Suffered him
to make his Escape is called in & charged with his Neglect
therein & Ordered to give his Excellency an Accot of the
whole matter his manner of proceedings & what had passed
between him & the Governor of Virginia upon his application
made to him in Order to retreive his Prisoner which the said
Stephen Luff having accordingly done It is Ordered that he
the said Stephen Luff together with Charles Nicholson to
attend him do again wait upon his Excellency to demand the
delivery up to him of his Prisoner & that a Postcript be added
to the Letter ordered to be drawn the 6th Instant to the said
Govr to acquaint his Excellency that Since the Writing
thereof the said Sheriff was returned hither & had given an
Accot of his Demands made to his Excellency for the Sur-
render of the said Randolph his Prisoner & of his Excellencys
answer thereto from whence this Board had been encouraged
to request his Excllcy the Governor of this Province to send
back the said Sheriff together with the said Charles Nicholson
in order to make a Second demand & hoped his ExcIlcy Sr
Edmond Andros would Comply therewith

Was then produced & read the said Letter formerly writ
(vizt) the 6th Instant together with the Postcript added as
above (viz*)

May it please your Excellency
Your Excellencys of the 22d & 27th of this last Month have
been imparted to us & their Contents Duly considered from
whence we hold our selves obliged to return your Excellency
for answer that we take notice of your kind endeavours to
admonish Concerning those strange Indians at the head of
our Bay & the French man with them but withal to assure
you that as it hath pleased their Majstys to do us that great
Honour to place Us in the Spheeres we are so we shall therein
consult & act as near as we can nothg Prejudicial to their
Service & the good & Welfare of their Subjects & to that
end have referred any Resolutions Concerning those Indians
