In answer to the foregoing petition issued this foll^o precept
or order from this Board (viz^t)

Whereas Sarah Reynolds by her petition to this Board this
day preferred hath set forth & Grievously complained that
one Thomas Hinton of Calvert County hath very much
abused & notoriously cheated & Defrauded her of one hun-
dred acres of Land under Pretence & Promise made her of

paying her Debts and maintaining her During her Life & he
to have the said Land at her Decease notwithstanding which
the said having fraudulently & deceitfully procured from her
a Deed for the said Land hath got possession thereof &
keeps the same from her she lying in prison where she hath
been for about three Years space for debt which the said
Hinton refuses to pay or deliver her from thence to her un-
speakable great damage & injury & Contrary to all Law right
& good reason as is alledged
Ordered that the Commsrs or Iustices of Calvert
County do at their next County Court to be held for
the said County upon receipt hereof Command &
Cause to come before them as well the said Sarah
Reynolds the Complainant as also the said Tho^s Hinton
& by a due inspection & thorough examination had
into the whole matter and hearing the allegations &
Evidences on both sides do therein what to right &
Iustice appertaineth according to Law & to the best of
their Iudgment & Understanding

Honoured Sir
I have been under great dissatisfaction ever since my Last
Visit which was rendered so Impertinent and fruitless by that
watchful Old Surley Cerberus your Guardian that I could not
have the opportunity so much as to enquire into the causes of
your calamity nor offer your Honour the civility of my Assist-
ance in any thing wherein I might be Serviceable we have
