familiarity with a person proscribed was a crime Sufficient to
bring a Man under the same Proscription but I hope it is not
so now these are surely days of more Christian Liberty &
In this Confidence I have adventured to send my Son in Law
to wait upon your Honour with the tender of my respects &
Service which I had not the Opportunity before to Offer but
hope this paper may find a greater Freedom, the world is
amazed at your misfortune and divers enquire of me the
cause of it but I am able to resolve them nothing though I
wish I knew better for my own Satisfaction which I humbly
beg of your Honour if it may not seem impertinent in the
fnean time I daily wish and pray for your Enlargemt or at
least if that may not be for a more Comfortable Confinement
than that hole Ubi nil nisi pontus et aer which if your stay
there should be till hot weather I fear would much prejudice
your health, If In any thing I can any ways serve your
Honour I Beseech you be pleased to let me receive your
Commands by this Bearer & you will highly Oblige
Hond Sir
To the HonbIe Sr Tho Your most humble &
