At the Councill Chamber at the City of St
Marys March 9th 1692 the Councill again
met & sate vizt

Present
His Excellency the Governor

Collo Nea Blakiston
Sr Thomas Lawrence
Thomas Tench Esqr

Capt Iohn Addison
Capt Iohn Courts
Thos Brooke Esqr

Ordered that Coll Nicholas Greenberry of Ann Arundell
County and the rest of the Chief Military Officers of other the
respective Countys of this Province be advised & required by
Letter from this Board to Press and employ all the Smiths
within their respective Precints and Commands for the imme-
diate Cleansing and fixing the publick Arms to them respec-
tively belong8 which was accordingly done
Coll Blakiston offers to the Consideration of this Board that
he being the Kings Collector & having Occasion to press a
Man in the City of St Marys for their Majestys Service the
said man belonging to Mr Denton he did oppose the same
refusing to Obey and told the said Blakiston in insolent
manner that it was a grievance to the Countrey of which he
would complain to the Assembly and thereupon took away
his said Man not suffering him to obey the precept of the said
Blakiston

It was thereupon proposed and moved to the Board that
for the Contempt of the said Mr Denton and his dissaffection
thereby expressed to the Kings Service and Interest Sr Thomas
Lawrence be moved to remove the said Denton from his
Clerks Place under him & put in his Room some other more
honest deserving Loyal Person or at least to Suspend him till
he Clear himself of the aforesaid Charge Wm Bladen being
appointed to serve the said Precept is called in and upon his
oath examined Saith that he the Deponent being empowred
by Coll Blakiston to go on Board & also to press men to
unstow the Ship Margarett of London then under Seizure did
on or about the Month of Ianuary 1692/3 imprest one Stephen
Blachford a Servant to Mr Henry Denton who took him away
without any discharge & not long after this Deponent going
