to setle there hath prayed my Recommendacon to you to the
intent he may more cheerfully proceede in this his undertaking
I am informed he hath bin educated a merchant and is an
ingenious man a good accomptant and one that understands
buisiness very well which accomplishments will conduce very
much to his preferment; Wherefore I doe for his Encourage-
ment recommend him to you and it is my pleasure that you
will and doe on all occasions countenance and favour him in
any thing that is reasonable by preferring him to such an
Imploy as he in your wisdome shall be thought capable of in
order to his preferrment and advancement in my said Province
not doubting of your complyance herein I rest

After the said Letter read this board exprest all ready Com-
plyance to his Lordsps desires therein according to the tenour
thereof.

Mr John Sollers of Calvert County appeared at this board
according to sufnons for divulging false newes and being fully
heard was discharged.

At a Council held at the City of St Maries
the nineth day of October 1688.

Came Mr George Layfeild his Maties Comptroller and Sur-
veyor here and desired of this board that his Lordp the Lord
Propty might have an Officer in Sumerset County To enter
and cleare shipps there as formerly the same was done. The
Consideracon thereof referred for the present. He also desired
that he might officiate as Clerck of the Townes for Annemessex
and pocoamoke Rivers according to the Acts of Assemblys
for Townes, but their honors could not graunt his request in
that, But in any one Towne he might be Clerk as the Acts
direct. Thereupon he chose Rehoboth Towne and it is
