Towns and destroying severall of the English both Men
Women and Children and that he was then actually in Person
there as also when Schennectida a Town about Twenty Miles
above Albany was Burnt and cut of in the Night, now about
three Years since that this Monsr Casteene was then and there
in Person with the French & Indians a great Ringleader in
that destruction as by severall that made their escape did
report as also Sr Edmond Andros used all his endeavours for
the apprehending this Monsr Casteene and Proffered consid-
erable Sums of Money to any that would apprehd him since
which time this Deponent hath learned nothing of him and
this Deponent further saith that he hath seen the said Monsr
Casteene when he was among the Indians at Penobscott fort
in one day both in Indian Habit and in Scarlett and this
Depont further saith that the French Man who came into these
Parts with the late Indians (as he does suppose) is this Monsr
Casteene

Advised thereupon and resolved by the Board that 3 Forts
be forthwith erected in each of which a dwelling House
sufficient to retain and accomtnadate a Captain or Com-
mander and nine Souldiers together with a small Cabbin for
four Indians to be found and sent thither by the Emperor of
Nantecoke the Emperor of Pascattoway and the King of
Choptico the said 3 Forts to be erected & built one in Charles
County by the Direction and appointment of Captain Iohn
Addison one in Ann Arundell County at the direction &
appointment of Coll Nicholas Greenberry & the other about
the Falls of Potapsicoe towards or near Susquehannoh River
in Baltimore County that Captain Richard Brightwell command
the Fort at Charles County Capt at Ann Arundell
and Captain Thomas Richardson that in Baltemore County,
ordered also that the aforesd Captain Iohn Addison and Coll0
Nicholas Greenberry be desired authorised and empowred to
press and procure Carpenters work labourers provision tools
and other necessarys for erecting and building the said Forts
and that they have assurance given them from this Board of
being satisfied and paid for the same at the publick charge to
be allowed p rato at the price currant when such things are
got and procured
Ordered also that Captain Iohn Addison be and he is hereby
desired authorised and empowred to treat with and procure of
the Emperor of Pascattoway four of his Indians for the Fort
