to this Deponent together with the Bond to be filled up and
so to be sent down again to his Honour whereupon this
Depont gave his Honour Sir Thomas his Bill for the payment
of three thousand pounds of Tobacco for his tenth part of the
Fees due from October in the Year of our Lord 1691 untill
October in the Year of our Lord 1692 and further his Honour
then told this Depont that he expected that he would allow
him somewhat for his Commission and said that he would not
demand any thing for the same but left it to this Deponent
what he thought fitt to allow him and though his Commission
was granted to him but for one Year yet if no complaint came
against him he would renew it again for a Longer time where-
upon this Deponent replied to his Honour and told him that
he had given him a Bill for three thousand pounds of Tobacco
for his tenth Part of the Fees from October 1691 to October
1692 and that if he were to render an accot of the fees and
Profits upon his Oath before his Honour his tenth part would
hardly come to two thousand Pounds of Tobacco and therefore

was willing to pay his Honour the said three thousand pounds
of Tobacco wdl this Deponent supposed might be sufficient
for his tenth part & the Commso and further saith not

St Marys ss Sunday the 16th of October 1692

I Henry Bonner the Deponent being at the house of Mr
Philip Lynes in the City of St Marys aforesaid came in
Sr Thomas Lawrence Secretary of Maryland and the said Sr
Thos understanding the said Depont was Clerk of Ann Arun-
dell County he the said Sr Thomas walked out with an-
other Gentleman with him and having some conference
about the Clerks place of Ann Arundell County he the said
SrThomas told me that if I would Officiate under that Gentle-
man as Deputy Clerk of Ann Arundll County he the said
Sr Thomas Lawrence would allow me one half fees which I
refused and Sr Thomas Lawrence about the Corner of Van-
sweeringens Garden fence answered me since you will not
accept this Offer I have done with you so we parted and
further saith not H. Bonner
Sworn before us Iustices of their Majstys
Provinciall Court of this Province of
Maryland this 26th day of Octr Anno
1692
