Letter by him lately reed from the Governor of New York
acknowledging the receipt and giving thanks for the demon-
stration of our affection to that Government in the Loan of
One hundred Pounds Sterl and importuning yet further fresh
Supplies
Resolved and it is hereby ordered that his Excellency be
requested to render an Answer to the said Letter congratu-
lating the Arrivall of so good a Neighbour as he hath been
represented to be and signifying the hearty well wishes of this
Board for his happy and peacable good Government inti-
mating also their free and ready inclinations to afford them all
the necessary Supplys and assistance they can possibly but
that according to the usual practice and known methods of
this Governmt in such Cases the Generall Assembly of this
Province who are the common Purses must be first consulted
therein and the Necessity of further aid and Assistance then
laid before them
that by way of Postscript his Excellency the Governor of
New York be also requested to send by the next opportunity
his receipt for that hundred Pounds already lent them by his
Excllcy the Governor of this Province in order to lay the same
before the next Assembly for his reimbursment accordingly
his Excellency advised the Governor of New York in this
following Letter (vizt)

Sr
Yours of the 15th September last I have ree'd and commun-
icated the same to the Councill here they with my self all
congratulate the arrivall of so good a Neighbour as your
Excllcys Character has rendred you to be, and salutes you with
our hearty good Wishes for your happy Settlement and pros-
perous Conduct in your Government and have expressed their
readiness to contribute what in them lyes towards your assist-
ance but the measure & methods of so doing must be taken
from the assembly who as they bear the purse so consequently
expect to have the disposition of their moneys; they are to
meet the last Tuesday in April next when shall take Care to
lay before them the indispensable necessity besides the duty
incumbent on them of affording you all necessary and suitable
