William and Mary by the Grace of God King and Queen
of England Scotland France and Ireland Defdrs of the Faith
&ca to all to whom these presents shall come Know yee that
we of our especiall Grace certain Knowledge and meere
motion have given and Granted and by these Presents do
give and Grant unto our trusty and well beloved Sr Thomas
Lawrence Baronet the Office or Place of Secretary of the
Province of Maryland in America (the Government whereof
we have taken into our hands and under our immediate Care,)
and him the said Sr Thomas Lawrence Secretary of the Prov-
ince of Maryld in America we do make ordain and constitute
by these Prests To have hold Exercise and enjoy the said
Office or Place unto the said Sr Thomas Lawrence by himself
or his Sufficient Deputy during our Pleasure and the residence
of the said Sir Thomas Lawrence in the said Province together
with all rights priviledges Profits Perquisits and advantages to
the said Office belonging incident or in any wise appertaining
and in such manner and form as any Secretary of any our
Provinces in America for or by reason of the Exercise and
Execution of such Office or place may lawfully have receive or
enjoy in witness whereof we have caused these our Letters to
be made Patents, Witness our selves at Westminster the fifth
day of September in the third Year of our Reign

After our hearty commendations his Majesty having been
Graciously pleased by his Letters Patents under the great
Seal of England, to grant unto you the Office and place of
Secretary of their Majestys Province of Maryland in America
these are in his Majestys Name and by his express Commands
to direct and require you and the Secretary of their Majestys
said Province for the time being to send unto us a particular
Account of all things that shall pass or be transacted within
your said Office of Secretary and Copies of such Laws Acts
of Governmt and publick Orders as shall be made from time

to time together with Copys of the Iournalls of the Councill,
and of all such Papers as are or ought to be entred and reg-
istred within your said Office, to the end Wee whom his
Majesty hath appointed a Committee of his Privy Councill
for trade and Foreign Plantations may the better be enabled
to perform the duty Incumbent on us which Accots and Copys
are to be transmitted by you unto us quarterly or at such times
in the Year as any Oppertunity shall offer, as also Duplicates
thereof by the next succeeding conveyance And that you and
others whom it may concern may at all times give due Obedi-
ence hereunto you are to make an Entry of this our Letter in
