Councill
The petition of Edward Greene of Somerset County
most humbly Sheweth
That Vincent Lowe Esqr late of this Province dec'd had
granted unto him the 2d day of December 1680 a warrant for
three thousand acres of Land on any Part or Place of Del-
aware Bay, the Sea Board Side, or the whore kills upon the
Lord Baltemores conditions of Plantation then in force, that

the said warrant is since by Mrs Elizabeth Lowe the Relict of
the said Vincent Lowe assigned and sett over unto your Peti-
tioner by endorsment on the back of the said warrant here-
unto annexed: your Petitioner humbly prays your Honrs
special order for renewment of the said warrant according to
the tenor of the said former warrant: the same being as yet
wholly unexecuted, nor any use thereof made
And shall pray &ca

The Petition granted and Ordered that warrant be renewed
to the Petitioner as prayed

To his Excellency the Governor & the honble Councill
The Petition of Ioshua Barkstead
humbly Sheweth
That your Petitioner hath been formerly employed in the
Office of a Surveyor in Sommerset County, and therein well
and truly behaved himself according to the tenor of his Oath
copy whereof is hereunto annexed, that he understands the said
Office is now vacant and your Honour about to settle those
Offices in every County of the Province your Petitioner
humbly conceives himself sufficiently qualified for such a
Place through the Skill and Iudgment he hath in the Art of
Surveying, he therefore humbly prays your Honours wou'd
vouchsafe to confer on him the said Office in Somerset County
aforesaid And shall pray &ca

annexed to the foregoing petition was this following Certifi-
cate Vizt Mr Ioshua Barkstead you do swear that what Lands
Islands Beaches or Marshes you are legally empowred to
survey in Somersett County, the same you will perform hon-
estly justly and truly according to the best of your Skill knowl-
edge and understanding
So help you God
Memd that this day to Wit the 9th day of Iuly 1691 came
Mr Ioshua Barkstead before me and took the above written
oath as witness my hand Iames Round
