at the same time also appeared the Honble Sr Thomas
Lawrence his Majestys Secretary of this Province and pro-
duced his Commission for the same together with his Instruc-
tions and order of King and Councill concerning concerning
the respective County and the Places within this Province which
were all read and delivered to him to be recorded as well as
in this Iournall
The Oaths of Lieutenant Governor and of Counsellor were
administred unto and taken by the Honble Francis Nicholson
Esqr
The Oaths of Secretary and of Counsellor also administred
to the Honble Sr Thomas Lawrence, and they both took their
places at the Board
Sr Thomas Lawrence moves that whereas he had provided a
Seal to be cut in England for the Use of his Office here
although the same may not be thought so proper and effectual
for that purpose as might have been, yet he may be admitted
for present to make use thereof which was allowed and
approved of
Ordered that a New Commission be prepared and drawn
for the Provincial Court adding thereto Francis Nicholson
Esqr in his proper place next the Governor
Produced and read a petition signed p Severall of the
Inhabitants of Somersett County to the Number of one hun-
dred and twelve Persons, praying the continuance among them
their Ministers (vizt) one of them of the Church of England,
other three dissenters only in some small matters but willing
to qualify themselves so far as in conscience they can by taking
the Oaths of Allegiance and abhorrency
Referred to further consideration
Upon Application made to this Board by Iohn Kemble
the Brother of one Robert Kemble late of Baltemore County
found murdered as is supposed by Abigail his Wife and one
William Luffman and others confederates that the said Luff-
man Abigail &ca were fled into Virginia and there appre-
hended and taken into custody with severall Goods and
other things of the said deceaseds Estate according to the
following accot given by the said Kemble—viz'
An Inventory of a certain Parcell of Goods which William
Luffman carried away of Robert Kembles Estate &ca to say
two Gunns, one sword, severall Iron Potts, and two or three
Feather Beds, three Slaves one English Boy Servant, one
twelve Foot Boat very well rigg'd with several other Goods
which I know not Given under my Hand September the 30th
