A Frenchman lately come in with a Parcell of strange
Indians at the head of the Bay and taken up for a Spie, or
Party concerned with them, in designe of mischief was Or-
dered to be brought before the Board, and by an Interpreter

Having declared himself to have been formerly an Inhabitant
of Canada and from thence run away and cohabited with the
Indians, Queeried and Responced as follows

Answr He went away without Leave of the Governor to
some Indians that owed him some Beavor, and when he came
back to the Town again the Governor put him in Prison, and
in Irons, where he continued severall Months, but at last got

hunted for his Victuals which as he got he Roasted and found
water in all Places
