These are to acquaint You that on Monday last J arrived at
my dwelling house where I met with Major Iohn Thomas with
a party of Men, and amongst them a Party in whom I might
confide being a credible person who coming down the Bay
met with the Party of Indians with their Wives and Children,
which your Letter to me specifies, but they offered no Violence
to him nor indeed to any other as J am informed where they
have been, since Captn Maxwell and a Party hath been with
them and discoursed them, as You will hear of from him
more at large; doubt not but that a Rumour of another
Nature is come to your Ears e'er this, the which I shall inform
You of, and of the Occasion, and the Event at last (vizt)

Guns Fired and heard some Piggs cry and looking somewhat
narrowly espied some Indians, the Guns I heard my self but
being at home my self alone, made my Arms ready expecting
an Assault and my Gang of People came one after the other
relating the aforesaid words, so that indeed I did take it for a
reall Business insomuch that I immediately sent to Potapsicoe,
an express to Major Thomas, which no sooner was done but
the Indians came up to my House and seing me ready in
Arms were more Frightned then we, and related the meaning
of the Foregoing Rumour which was a Parcell of Delaware
Indians was coming to my House, and by the way mett a
Parcell of wild Turkeys at which they fired their Guns, and
