To his Excellency Lionel Copley Esqr Captain Gen-
eral of the Province of Maryland & the rest of the
honourable Council
The humble Petition of Nicholas Waterman
Humbly sheweth
That whereas your humble Petitioner hath a Tract of land
due and belonging to him called Lockwoods Gift and your
humble Petitioner hath possessed and paid Rent for it twelve
Years, now your Honours Petitioner is threatened by his
Neighbours to be dispossessed of it to his utter Ruin, unless
your Honours be graciously pleased to take it into your
Honours serious Considerations that a Survey may be made
that your Honours Petitioner may have his Right he not being
able to wage Law, and your humble Petitioner shall
as Ever bound pray

which Petition was granted & accordingly issued the fol-
lowing Order Vizt

By his Excellency the Governor and Council
Maryland ss
16 August 1692
Ordered that Edward Bateson Gent Surveyor appointed for
Calvert and Ann Arundel Counties carefully resurvey and lay
out for Nicholas Waterman of Ann Arundel County a Tract
of Land in the said County called Lockwoods Gift according
to the true antient Metes and bounds thereof, and return his
Certificate of such Resurvey with a true Platt thereof unto this
Board with all Expedition

appointed for Calver & Ann

The Petition of William Parker late high Sheriff of Calvert
County
Submissively Sheweth
That your Petitioner by Virtue of his Office, and in Con-
fidence of being continued therein according to the General
known Practice of the Government of this Province, and as
other Sheriffs have heretofore usually been, hath disbursed
expended and assumed upon himself to pay and satisfy several
Sums and parcels of Tobacco amounting to a very consid-
