erable Quantity of near seventy thousand pounds, whereof he
hath not collected or received above two or three and twenty
thousand, the rest of your Petitioners dues in the said County
lying still out dispersed in small Parcels, and your Petitioner
suspended and removed from executing the said Office, and
consequently rendered incapable of ever collecting the same,
whereby to reimburse himself what he hath really and bona
fide laid out &c as afd to his great Loss Damage and almost
Utter Ruin unless relieved by your Excellency according to
your gracious and favourable Promise heretofore given your
Petitioner which he makes bold and presumes now to put your
Excellency in mind of, and humbly moves your Excellency
that if there be at present any Room for your Excy to extend
your favours by way of any Place of Trust and Profit, Your
Petitioner may be the Object of your Consideration or other-
wise that your gracious Jnclination towards your Petitioner
may in perpetuam rei memoriam be entred upon Record to
be made good when Occasion shall present, and such Methods
taken in the mean time for the securing collecting and receiving
your Petitioners parcels and publick dues in the said County
as to your Excellency and your Honours shall seem meet and
convenient
And as in Duty bound shall pray &c
Ordered that Major Ninian Beale Successor to the said
William Parker in the Office of high Sheriff of Calvert
County do collect & receive the Petitioners Parcels and pub-
lick dues in the said County without any Charge to the Peti-
tioner
His Excellency produced and ordered to be read to the
Board these following Letters he had lately received from
Ann Arundel County (Vizt)

Iuly the 25th 1692 Severn River
May it please your Excellency
Sir
Since my last to your Excellency on the 18th Jnstant J was
alarmed with a dull Peice of Paper from Major Thomas to
Mr Ashman, and so to me, that the Indians had besett Captn
Richardsons house, as the said Richardson did signify to him
by an Express, which Writing from the said Thomas is here
inclosed and also a Letter to me dated the 20th Jnstant from
the said Richardson, to blast the aforementioned Report with
the matter of truth, by the Cry of a Pig, and for the better and
more certain Confirmation resolved into that County, so soon
as your Excellencys Commands came to my hand, which was
on the 20th Jnstant, and the next day J went into the said
