ties behalf, also that he summons William Gudgeon, Robert

Gudgeon and John Duncan of the same County that all
Excuses set apart, they and Every and Either of them be also
and appear at the time and place aforesaid to testify and give
in Evidence the Truth of their knowledge on their Majesties
behalf against the said Thomas Thurston whereof let there be
no fail upon pain and Peril that shall fall thereon

Read a Petition preferred by Lawrence Draper of Ann
Arundel County setting forth that whereas he had been here-
tofore (vizt since the Revolution) been fined in the Provincial
Court the sum of five pounds sterling for ignorantly refusing
to take the Oaths by Act of Parliament appointed to be taken
instead of the Oaths of Allegiance and Abhorrency not know-
ing of any such Law, but being since convinced of his Error
therein he had lately taken the same, wherefore he humbly
prayed that the said Sum of five pounds by him paid into the
hands of Col Greenberry according to Order not being yet
disposed off according to Law might be refunded to him
In Answer to which Jt is considered and resolved by this
Board that the said fine being levyed and ordered to be dis-

posed off as the Act directs the same cannot be restored to
the Petitioner as is desired
Captain Thomas Richardson at request is appointed chief
Ranger for part of Baltimore County (to wit) from the falls of
back River upward to the Extent of the said County he giving
good Security according to Law and the usual Custom in
such Cases
Thomas Hooker also Ranger for the other Part of the said
County (to wit) from the falls of said back River downward
the Extent of said County upon the Conditions and Terms
aforesaid
Was read a Petition of Captain James Maxwell praying to
be admitted Ranger of said County, but the said place being
wholly disposed off as aforesaid the Petition is dismissed
Thomas Brown of Ann Arundel County nominated and
appointed Ranger in the said County from Mr Snowdens
Plantation upwards to the Extent of the County
Iob Evans also Ranger from the said Plantation downwards
the rest of the County
