Upon an Information exhibited against Thomas Thurston,
Captain Thomas Richardson of Baltimore County was called
in and examined thereupon who having taken his Oath upon
the holy Evangelist deposed as follows (Vizt)
The Deposition of Captn Thomas Richardson
of Baltimore County Vizt
The Deponent upon Oath examined saith that going to de-
mand of Mr Thomas Thurston the Magazine of Baltimore
County, the said Thurston did unnecessarily fall upon many
idle and reproachful Words and Discourse and did abuse the
Deponent in such manner as he never was used before, and
said that it was a sorry business that We could not have a
Colonel in our own County but We must have half a Colonel;
but indeed said he, he is big enough to make two if he were
split in two, and further that there is fine times now, none but
linsey Woolsey fellows and Papists rules, and said Green-
berry was a knave and told him a Lye, or else he had been
better provided; and also said, now they had brought the
Country to a fair Pass, for he knew that the Levies would be
at least Eight hundred pounds of Tobacco p head, and further
the Deponent saith not

'Whereupon issued this following Precept to the Sheriff of
Baltimore County vizt
Maryland ss By his Excellency the Governor & Council
August 16. 1692
Ordered that the Sheriff of Baltimore County do forthwith
upon Receipt hereof summons and give Notice to Thomas
Thurston if he shall be found in his Bailywick that all Excuses
set apart he be and personally appear before their Majesties
Justices of the Provincial Court, at the next Provincial Court
to be holden at the City of St Marys on the last Tuesday in
September next to answer unto such matters and things as
