The 7th of January 1691

Present
The Kings most Excellent Majesty
in Councill

Whereas Peter Paggen Merchant trading to Maryland did
this day inform the Board that he had received Bills made
payable to him by Order of the Convention of Maryland,
drawn by severall Masters of ships in those parts, upon their
Correspondents in England amounting to the sum of £248
2s 6d being in discharge of so much of one moyety of the duty
of two shillings per Hogshead, and of the Port Dutys payable
in Maryland, It is this day ordered in Councill that the Right
Honble the Lords Commrs of the Treasury do give directions to
the said Peter Paggen to deliver over the aforesaid Bills to the
Receiver Generall of their Majesty's Customes endorsed for him
as by their Majesty's service relating to the Government of
Maryland in order to be presented to the severall Merchants
concerned and disposed of by their Lordships according to the
Acts of Maryland in that behalfe.

Whereas in the Office of the secretary of the Province of
Maryland in America (which office it hath pleased their
Maiesty to conferr upon Sr Thomas Lawrence) There hath
been alwaies used a lesser seal or signet in confirmation of
certain writts and orders isshuing forth of the said Office
And whereas no such seal or signet is yet ordered or
appointed since The grant of That Place to Sr Thomas Law-
rence He doth therefore humbly Represent that Matter to
this Honorable Board and attend what order your Lordships
shall make in it to be observed by
Your Lordships humble Petetioner
Thomas Laurence

It is likewise humbly pray'd
in behalfe of the ten county
courts of the said Province that
so many seals may be appointed
them to signe the kings writs isshuable out of the said Courts.
