duties, Commoditys and advantages whatsoever to the said
Office Command and Government in any wise belonging and

apperteyning or which any Lieutenant Generall, Chief Captain
Chief Governor or Commander or Chief Admirall of Mary-
land aforesaid have or ought to possesse or enjoy. To have
hold occupy enjoy and exercise the said Powers, Command
Iurisdiction Government Profits Privileges Emoluments and
premises unto the said Lionell Copley by himselfe or his suffi-
cient deputy or deputies by him in his Absence to be appointed
for and during their Majesties pleasure (and not otherwise) in
such manner and according to such Rules, Powers Limitations
and Instructions as are herein after expressed or as shall be in
that behalfe given or signified unto him from time to time by
their said Majesties soe as the same do not extend to the
disherizon of the said Charles Baron of Baltemore his heires
or Assignes of or from his or their Lands or possessions of or
in the said province or any the Territories or appurtences
thereunto belonging And the said Charles Baron of Baltemore
by the Appointment aforesaid doth Give and Grant unto the
said Lionell Copley full power and authority during the time
of his Exercise of the Office before mentioned by himselfe
and his Captains and Officers by him to be appointed to Levy
Muster and traine all sorts of men of what condition soever or
wheresoever borne in their Majesties said Province and
dominions for the time being remaining. And in Case of
Insurrections assaults or approaching of any Enemy or Ene-
mies, Pirate or Pirates to make Warr and pursue such Enemy
or Enemies Pirates as well by Sea as Land and to vanquish
and take them and being so taken to putt to Death by the
Law of Warr or save them at his pleasure And to do all and
every thing which unto the Charge and Office of a Captain
Generall of an Army or Admirall of a Fleet belongeth And
likewise in case of any Rebellion Tumult or sedition either
upon the Land within their Majesties' said Province and Do-
minions or upon the Seas to execute the Laws in that behalfe
against all Rebellious Mutinous and seditious persons who
shall refuse to submit themselves to the Government or to
serve in the Warrs or shall fly to the Enemy or forsake their
Ensigns or be loyterers or straglers or otherwise howsoever
offending against the Law Custome or Discipline Military as
freely and in as ample manner and forme as any Captain
Generall of an Army or Admirall of a Navy by vertue of his
Office lawfully might or have accustomed to use the same
And further the said Charles Baron of Baltemore doth give
Grant and transferre unto the said Lionell Copley full power
and authority during the time of his exercise of the said Office
as often as hee shall think fitt from time to time to pardon
