murthrs of Enock of

Upon reading the aforegoing letter their
honors ordered that a Letter be writt to
Mr Fran: Jenkins of Sum: County that himself
|
and six of his Neighbours goe to the Empr of Nanticoke and
acquaint him of the late Murther comitted in Baltemore
County by his Indians and peaceably and according to the
Articles of Peace with him made to demand the murtherers to
lett him know their honors have an account where the said
murtherers are but themselves will not medle with them, but
desire he will send his Indians for them and that they may be
held up to Justice pursuant to said Treaty and that a Copy of
the Articles be sent to Mr Jenkins the better to enable him in
the pmissesand that he with all speed return an account of his
proceedings herein to this Board, the which Letter was accord-
ingly writt and is as followes.

We have lately read an account from Baltemore
County of the murther of one Enock an Englishman
|
by two Nanticoke Indians their names we understand are
Anncohill or the white Indian and Sonan called in English
James which said Indians we are informed are still in the said
County together with two other Indian men, two women and
one child at a place called Dear Creek waiting till the Barque
will peel and then intend to make themselves Canoes and to goe
to the northern Indians; you are hereby desired to take with
you five or six of the chiefe of your Neighbours and forthwith
goe to the Empr of Nanticoke and acquaint him of the murther
aforesaid and in our name in behalf of his Lp to make demand
of the said Indians murtherers according to the Articles of
Peace last concluded with him (coppy whereof is herewith sent
you) lett him know we are informed where his Indians are, but
have not medled with them ourselves but desire him to send
out his Indians to take the said murtherers and that they may
be Deld to Justice according to the said Treaty, his Answer
and Resolution hereto and your Proceedings here about
pray dispatch with all speed by a Boat on purpose to us at
St Maryes soe wee comend to you very heartily our Respects
& remain
