called Monanoakin, formerly in Smiths Map Wicocomoco Riuer

Honowred S^r hauing perused yo^r demand of Obedience &
acknowledgm^t to his Ma^ties dues in poynt of Right for gouerm^t
I can giue noe other Responce then this That J shall decline
as long as J liue all authority th^t shall be deriued from him his
heyeres or lawfull successo^rs & am & shall bee allwayes ready-
to yeild Obedience to then th^t is or shall bee o^r Gou^r by any
authority graunted from him, or any of his Lawfull successo^rs,
& will willingly pay all such Rights & dues as shall bee law-
fully demanded of mee, whither in Right of Land or otherwise,
& soe shall J subscribe this 23^th of ffebruary 1662.

Vppon reading of this letter, Jt is Ordered That a Letter bee
sent to S^r Will^m Barkeley Gouerno^r of Virginia from the
Gouerno^r & Councell here, signifying unto him Co^ll Scar-
boroughs demands of Obedience & acknowledgm^t to his Ma^ty
in poynt of Rights of Land from the poeple inhabiting att
Monanoakin, & Anamessceks, as well as submission to his
Ma^ties Gouerno^r of Virginia. And th^t on their part, they would

appoynt a time When Wee on our part shall attend on them
to Determine that place w^ch shall bee accounted Watkins Poynt,
according to his L^ps Patt^t for Maryland.

Vppon Jnformaon gyuen to the Councell That Cap^t Samuel
Tilghman hath uttered sundry scandalous, Contemptuous &
seditious words agst the Gouerno^r & Councell, & the proceed-
ings in the gouern⁴ of this Prouince
Ordered th^t a speciall writt bee fortw^th gyuen out, to arrest
the s^d Cap^t Tilghman to appeare eyther by himselfe or Attorney
att the next Prouinciall Court to bee holden att S^t Maries 2^o Junij
next to answere such his contemptuous speeches as afores^d
And in Case hee depart the Prouince before th^t time Then that
his Attorney bee lyable to Such Censure as shall bee then im-
posed & Ordered by the Court.
