be of or privy Councell within or sd prov: of M. And we doe
hereby give vnto you & every of you full power & authty from
time to time & at all times vntill we shall determine or other-
wise revoke this pnt commission, to assemble & meete together
wth our Lt or other cheife Govr of or sd prov. for the time being,
when & where he shall from time to time direct & appoint, to
treate consult deliberate & advise of all matters causes &
things wch shalbe discovered vnto you or be brought afore you

aswell concerning the quiet govermt & regulating of the
people there, as for the good & safety of or sd prov. of m. And
for the better &c. vt supra anno 1642 pag: 34. Given vnder the
great Seale &c.

Commission of Cecilius &c. To all & singular psons to
Secretary whom these pnts shall come greeting having
had long expience of the abilities & industry of or trusty &
welbeloved Counsellr John Lewger Esq in pfenning vnto vs
good & faithfull service in the sd prov. of M. & reposing
speciall trust in his wisedome diligence & expience, have con-
stituted appointed & ordeined; & by these pnts doe constitute
appoint & ordeine him the sd John Lewger to be or Secretary
of or sd prov: of M. And also Judge of all causes testamen-
tary & matrimoniall within or sd prov: And we doe hereby
give him power to grant Ires of Admraon from time to time
in or name of the estates of deceased psons within or sd pv. of
M. vnder or signett or lesser scale of or Coate of armes now
in the custody of or sd secretary, & wth the teste of the sd Jo.
Lewger as occasion shall require.
And we doe by these pnts appoint constitute & ordeine the
sd John Lewger aswell to be or Attorny Generall as or princi-
pall officer & keeper of the acts & pceedings of vs & of or
Leiutt gen: & Counsell there for the time being. And of &
for the entring & recording of all grants by vs or or heires to
be made of any lands or offices within or sd prov. of M. & for
the entring & recording of all other matters acts & things
wch by any Instruccons lawes or ordinances made or given or
to be made or given for or concerning or sd prov. of M. shall
or ought by the appointmt of vs & or heires or by the
appointmt of or Lt or other cheife Govr ther for the time
being or otherwise to be entred & recorded. To have & to
hold exequute & enioy the said office & offices vnto the sd
John Lewger during or pleasure & no longer. Given vnder
or great Scale &c.
