to time in such cases to noiate elect & appoint such an able pson
inhabiting & residing within o^r s^d prov. of M. as he in his dis-
cretion shall make choice of & think fitt to be o^r Le^t grall,
Chancell^r keep of o^r great Seale there, Admirall, cheife iustice
magrate & Comder aswell by sea as by land of o^r s^d prov: of
M. & of the Ilands to the same belonging, during the absence
of vs & o^r heires, & of him o^r s^d L^t out of the s^d prov. & in as
large & ample maner as we have by these pnts authorised him
o^r s^d L^t to governe for the pnt. And in case o^r s^d L^t shall happen

to Hyp or he absent out of o^r s^d prov. of M. & shall faile to

make choice of noiate & appoint some pson to be o^r L^t &c,
we doe hereby grant vnto o^r Councell^rs there for the time being,
or the greater p^t of them full power & auth^ty from time to time
in every such case to noiate elect & appoint such an able pson
w^ch shall then be of o^r Councell there & inhabiting & residing
within o^r said prov: of m as they or the greater p^t of them shall
make choice of & think fitt to be o^r L^t &c. w^ch pson so to be
chosen & appointed in any of the cases aforesaid, we doe here-
by declare shalbe o^r L^t &c. during the absence of o^r s^d brother
or vntill we or o^r heires shall signify o^r pleasure to the contrary
& no longer. To w^ch L^t &c. so to be elected noiatcd & appoint-
ed as afores^d we doe hereby grant the like power & auth^ty in
all causes & things as we have by these pnts given & granted
vnto o^r s^d brother: hereby comanding o^r Councell^rs Captaines
Soldiers & officers for the time being & the people of the s^d
prov. of M. & all others whom it may concerne, to be obedient
vnto him in all things matters & causes as we have in & by
these pnts commanded them to be obedient vnto o^r s^d brother
o^r pnt L^t vpon paine of such punishm^t to be inflicted on them
& every of them as such a highe contempt shall deserve. Given
