Dorchester County to wit:   I hereby Certify that on this 28th day of January
1857 personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Dorchester
County State of Maryland David Stafford and acknowledged the
foregoing Mortgage to be his act.
       And at the same time & place also appeared               Geo. L. Stevens
Geo. L. Stevens Daniel Sampson the morgage in
the within Mortgage & made oath that the consideration
set forth in the within Mortgage is true & bona
fide as therein set forth.  Sworn before

William L. Hearn      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Mortgage Bill of
Paid   from   xd         Sale was received and recorded on the 18th day of February A D 1857 to wit:
E. L. Foote               I E. L. Foote of Dorchester County Maryland being now indebted to William L. Hearn
                                now of Dorchester County Maryland in the sum of Four Hundred and sixty eight dollars
and eighty Cents with interest from second day of September 1856 in Consideration thereof do hereby bargain
and sell to the said William L. Hearn the following property six yoke of Oxen, Seven Horses & Colts and
six Carts.  Provided that if I the said E. L. Foote shall pay to the said William L Hearn the said sum of
Four Hundred & sixty eight Dollars & Eighty Cents with the interest thereon on or before the first day of September
next ensuing the date hereof.  Provided further in default of payment as above provided it is hereby agreed
between the parties the said William L. Hearn may sell the above Mortgaged property in the following
manner, to wit that he shall give ten days public notice of the time & terms of sale which shall be for
Cash and the proceeds arising from said sale to be applied first to the payment of expences of said
sale then to the payment of the said sum of Four Hundred and sixty eight dollars & eighty cents with
the interest thereon as specified in these presents or so much thereof as may be due at the time of such
sale and the surplus if any to be paid over to the said Mortgagor his Executors administrators or assigns
then these presents shall be void.  Witness my hand & seal February 18 1857
