at College Park, Md., of a building in which may be carried
on highly technical research in Industrial Chemistry, Physics,,
Geology, and other sciences, which will be of great mutual
value to the United States Government and to the University
of Maryland; and
WHEREAS, A bill now pending in the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled authorizes the appropriation of $350, 000 for the
construction of said building on the campus of the University
of Maryland at College Park, Md., contingent on the donation
by the University of Maryland of a site for this purpose;
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Regents of the University of Maryland,
upon application of an authorized agent of the United States
setting forth a description by metes and bounds of the lands
required, are authorized and empowered to grant and convey to
the United States all that tract of land lying and being in
Prince George's County, and more particularly described as
follows:
Beginning for the same at a point 1, 009. 61 feet on a line
drawn N. 44° 35' 10" E., from monument number 5298 of
the Washington Suburban Sanitary District, at which point of
beginning there has been placed an iron pipe monument and
running thence N. 82° 04' 43" W., 540. 23 feet to an iron
pipe; thence running on a continuation of said line N". 82° 04'
32" W., 614. 63 feet to a point on the northwest boundary line
of the property now held for the use of the University of Mary-
land, thence S. 76° 46' 56" east 743. 93 feet to an iron pipe;
thence S. 20° 24' 4" W., 889. 04 feet to the point of beginning,,
containing twenty acres, more or less. The Board of Regents
shall have authority, however, to make such changes in these
metes and bounds as may be necessary to conform to campus
plans, provided such changes conform generally with the loca-
tion herein set forth and do not cause the total amount of land,
to be ceded to exceed 20 acres, more or less.
Said Regents are further authorized and empowered to grant
to the United States for purposes of ingress or egress, a right-
of-way not more than twenty feet wide running from said tract
in a southerly direction across the land now held for the use of
the University of Maryland to meet the Cold Spring Road.
